The Chains — Chapter 1 — I Don't Tell Stories

Kim warns you: he's terrible at telling stories. And he tells you why Jack is special.

Kim doesn't like telling stories. So Jack tells it with him.

I don't like telling stories.

I'm not good at it either. Nobody needs to point that out. I know that when I tell a story, it comes out like shit.

JACK

It really does.

KIM

Thanks, Jack.

Jack has a way of telling things that's all his. He takes any random thing and makes it interesting, funny, the kind of thing you remember later. I don't.

JACK

I'm very good at it, by the way.

KIM

I think it's ridiculous. Not the people who do it. Some people are good at it. I think me doing it is ridiculous.

But I'm going to tell it anyway. So you understand what Jack means by chains.

And since I don't remember half of it, he's going to tell it with me. When it's him talking, you'll know.

JACK

You'll know because it gets better.

KIM

Chains. Jack's the one who came up with the name.

I don't name things. Jack names everything. Everything that gets near him gets its own exclusive name, and from then on it's his. He takes things for himself. Even mine.

JACK

If I don't name it, nobody will. Somebody's gotta organize this mess.

KIM

I'm not complaining. It's Jack.
